Our Story

Founded in 1980 by Ramiz Tafilaj, Jalifat Publishing is headquartered in Houston, Texas.  The company primarily focuses on Albanian language books but also translates and publishes books in English and other languages. The company has built a strong reputation in the marketplace and has become the publishing house of choice of some of Kosovo’s most influential leaders and acclaimed authors. Jalifat’s primary focus has been on non-fiction and biographical works, but the company has also published poetry and other literary works of fiction. In February 2012, Jalifat released the landmark, Albanian language series, Kosova by Jusuf Buxhovi. The three-volume series, which provided the first comprehensive and in-depth look into Kosovo’s history, quickly became a best seller in Kosova and Albania.
